Atomix Productions has just released the version 5 of its flagship software VirtualDJ.
Version 5 features a brand new browser, that has been completely redesigned from scratch, in order to fit the needs of today’s DJs. One of the most immediate difference is the ability to browse for songs by cover pictures, instead of plain text lists. But the new browser also features a lot of small enhancement, a much better and easier search engine, a full compatibility with ID3 tags, an exclusive intelligent “filter folder”, full compatibility with iTunes playlists, and much more…
Beside the new browser, Version 5 also brings huge improvements to TimeCode users. Thanks to ClearSound technology, the sound using timecode is now crystal clear. The reaction of the timecode has also been improved. And with a new plugin system, timecode use can be enhanced and modified at will by the addition of user-made plugins.
Also, Version 5 brings even more stability to the already solid software.
After 2 months without an update Xylio finally released version 1.0.5 of Future Decks Pro, the main software of Xylio.
I have thought that Xylio was died but this news seems to say the opposite.
The other good news is that Xylio has promised a new release of BDJ (1.3) in August on 17th (but who believes to VIM about dates?)
These the new features/improvements of FD Pro:
– sample player (sampler)
– BPM edit with intervals selection (ability to edit/tap the BPM manually if the software calculates it wrong)
– additional audio output for previewing/monitoring (Windows DirectSound only)
– VST fixes and improvements – Load songs in RAM setting added (Auto/5min/10min/15min/Never)
– a warning box if you try to load a song into a playing deck
– Behringer BCD3000 native support (Win+Mac)
– BCD2000/3000 skin (the B-DJ skin adaptation)
– text appearance problem on Mac finally fixed
– stability improvements – other small bugs fixed
I’ve not tested BCD jog yet, but I don’t think that it still works.
Image-Line have released an important update of Deckadance.
This is the first build by Luis (Serrano aka L.S.D, who took over from Argu).
Changes are :
– Downbeat and Start buttons aren’t displayed correctly when a song is loaded.
– Auto&Manual “status displays” don’t show the current automix state correctly.
– The loops/leaps synced to the nearest beat/bar sometimes doesn’t work as expected.
– When a file is dragged into the Toolbar then Deckadance crashes.
– Absolute mode position for MsPinky timecode cd control signal.
– Songs sampled at a different rate than 44100 Hz. have problems with the sync function.
– When a deck is playing and it reach the end if you use the Sync function in the opposite deck some problems can arise.
Echo effect doesn’t synchronize correctly with the tempo of the song.
– Improvement of the synchronization of decks.
– Improvement of the synchronization of decks when the host master tempo is active.
– Removed the startup demo dialog box.
– Improvement in the PFL monitoring section. Now it allows to blend between Main and PFL on the phones.
– Support for Behringer BCD3000 console.
– Added instant realtime set cue point for BCD3000 console.

That Spanish genius!

November 20, 2007

Its name is Garrapeta, and is a Spanish boy who has thought well to perfect the tool of Cycocraut for uses it with BCD2000 and Traktor3. And I must not only say that it has made the things in large, for the disposition of the buttons, and for the happy choice of some solutions, that we will describe below, but because it is the only one that makes a template available to print that it will render the easier life to all. Between the more interesting innovationes there are I use it of all a series of push-buttons through a key function that takes the place of “back to top” (the key rendered useless from uses it of the jog for the seek). Through I use it of this button activate many interesting keys, type the loop size and resize in the effects knobs , or the effects of Traktor through Eq knobs and the Kill Eq buttons. We have tried it and thanks to the template printed before, it has not been difficult to be operated at 100%. Now use BCD2000 with Traktor, expecially for creative deejays, has become simpler (but remember that use of Midi Rules request a little experience). It does not remain to you that going to Garrapeta home page in order to know more about it, and in order to download the files for Midi Rules and the templates to print.
You can see a Video on Youtube also: here.

Our friend ZeDd have written a useful post into Xylio forum, to explain how to install BCD 2000 on Windows Vista in properly mode.

First of all, I installed the old driver and the software from the cd. Then i did both upgrades. (driver 1.1.1 + software 1.2). Then i did a reboot. With no reboot, the driver won’t load ! After the reboot, i plugged my bcd2000 with the USB-cable. Device detected and Vista is installing my device properly. Reboot again! After this second reboot, the driver is loaded (icon of behringer visible on right lower corner) I load VDJ and the leds on my BCD2000 are activated. (just like with XP) I did a quick setup of the midi-setting, latency, etc , no special things. I selected song, press play … and the plays trough my headphone!!! no lag, no latency, no crops, nothing….
